Have any of you readers read "The Clique" series by Lisi Harrison?
For those who havn't, let me sum them up in a few words.
- Rich girls, rich city, rich friends, rich neighborhood.
- Egotistic kids.
- Unrealistic plot lines.
Yet, the books are somehow drawing. Im waiting for a trip to Barnes and Nobles to get Lisi's new book, 'Bratfest At Tiffany's'. (See? The title is practically confessing.)
What makes the book so drawing, you may ask? The girls themselves.
- Massie Block (the 'confident', 'fearless' leader [note the quote marks...] of The Pretty Committee),
- Alicia Rivera (sidekick of Massie and an envied Spanish beauty),
- Dylan Marvil (red-headed, boy-habited daughter of famous talk-show mother, Merri-Lee Marvil),
- Kristen Gregory (sporty, sometimes-wise, and unsure blonde made up of muscles),
- Claire Lyons (the newest member in the group, somewhat 'outcast' of the group, but may also be the closest to [and knows most about] Massie)
The group seems to have everything under control and their lives look 'perfect'; to the untrained eye. In their life, they have problems like everybody else in this world, except theirs is that we'd call trivial.
The reason I brought them up is mainly because of Massie. Though she does seem to fake her confidence sometimes, she is greatly loved in her school. Isn't this quite rare for a popular girl to be 'loved and envied' instead of 'hated and envied'?
Maybe I need to look at this page harder. And between the lines. >> http://www.wikihow.com/Build-Self-Confidence
